We are proud to announce that the City of Pittston has been awarded the 2026 ICMA Community Partnership Award for our innovative Mod-Home Initiative.
Presented by the International City/County Management Association (ICMA)—the world's leading organization for local government professionals—this award recognizes outstanding programs that strengthen communities through collaboration, innovation, and effective local leadership.
The Mod-Home Initiative was created to address one of our community's greatest needs: providing quality, attainable housing while creating a pathway to homeownership for local families. What began as a bold vision has become a nationally recognized model thanks to the dedication of an incredible team of partners and community leaders.
This achievement would not have been possible without the leadership of Mayor Michael Lombardo and City Administrator Joe Chacke, the hard work of Shannon Bonacci and the Office of Community Development, the commitment of our city staff, and the many organizations and partners who believed in this initiative from the very beginning.
For a city our size, receiving national recognition alongside communities from across the country is an incredible honor. It demonstrates that innovative ideas, strong partnerships, and a shared commitment to improving the lives of our residents can have an impact far beyond our city limits.
Congratulations to everyone who helped make the Mod-Home Initiative a success. This award belongs to our entire Pittston community, and we look forward to continuing this important work.
