Pathways to Homeownership
The Community Development Block Grant Program has enabled the City of Pittston to launch a Downpayment Assistance Program. This program aims to remove barriers to owning a home for first-time or income restricted individuals. Eligible individuals can receive up to $8,500 in downpayment assistance or 50% of the downpayment, whichever is less. The program also provides free homeownership courses to prepare new buyers for this major life event. Individuals must: purchase a home in the City of Pittston, get pre-approved through a bank, take homeownership courses, and the downpayment costs will be paid directly to the closing agent at the time of sale. See flyer below for more information.
The City of Pittston and Redevelopment Authority partners with the Pittston Housing Authority to help create new housing opportunities for individuals interested in homeownership. This project is through the Mod-Home Initiative and spread through the Greater Pittston Region.
