Job Overview:
The City of Pittston is seeking highly motivated individuals to serve as Part-time Police Officers in the City of Pittston Police Department. Hours and shifts vary. Hourly wages are $26.50, equipment allowance, eligible for Holiday overtime.
The primary duties of this position include but are not limited to ensuring the safety of the public through enforcing the Federal, Commonwealth, and Local laws and ordinance and protecting the lives and property of people within the City of Pittston. Applicants must possess a current PA Act 120 Certification.
Requirements:
- 18 years of age
- US Citizen
- Able to read, write, and speak the English Language
- Be a high school graduate/ GED
- Possess a current PA Act 120 Certification
- Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Driver’s License
- Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer
- Must be of good moral caliber
- Subject to a thorough background investigation
Duties:
- Enforce the laws Federal, Commonwealth, and Local criminal laws and ordinances
- Protect the lives and property of people within the jurisdiction of the City of Pittston
- Patrol assigned areas within the City of Pittston
- Respond to calls of service
- Serve paperwork both Civil and Criminal
- Provide First Aid/CPR
- Provide Traffic Control
- Testify in judicial proceedings
- Complete assigned reports and tasks
- Perform other related police duties
- Maintain a high level of discretion in regard to sensitive department materials and information
